How Austin Sets Up His SUP Customs Hybrid | Gear Placement and Storage Tips

Hey everyone, Austin here with LIVE Watersports SUP Customs. This Sub Angler. I'm here to do an overview of my board focusing on why I use Rugged Road as my seat storage, dry storage, some days ice. So hang in with me, but if this is something you've been considering, this is a video you want to watch. So here we go. Rugged Road makes the lightest cooler you can ever buy. It's what we recommend for the boards because every pound counts. I mean, I I got this thing loaded with camera gear, too. So I mean, I probably got an extra 30 lb in here.

And the cooler weight isn't adding much. Floats upright. My dad will kill me because again, a lot of camera gear in here. But I know it's going to float upright. It's going to be water sealed so nothing gets in there. It fits perfectly on the board. They have awesome colors. So I I went with green on this board. We have a blue board that we have the perfect blue to match that board. So they have a lot of colors, too. So that's on Rugged Road. Absolutely love them. You've heard that before. But another thing that y'all haven't probably seen us talk about is why we don't strap things down.

It's one of the many questions that I get. One of them being, "What is the Power-Pole in the middle?" That's another video. This one's about why we don't strap things down. And that's because everything has to be mobile. I mean, depending on the day or what time of the day it is, I need to move everything on the board. So let's say I just finished fishing out a spot and I'm ready to get going with my engine, well, everything has to be moved back. I'm moving everything back that way I can pull up the trolling motor and I get everything cinched back up ready to go.

I make sure everything's centered on the board. Nothing can be on the side, right? Because if you hit a wave, you don't want that odd weight pulling you to the right or left. So make sure everything's centered down the line. Same here. The cooler cannot be strapped down because I'm pulling it forward to get to the engine. Making sure that everything's good, that I'm in neutral, the gas is good. Same thing here, except I love my Helladry bag because this fits anywhere on the board. It's waterproof and it floats, so I know it's not going anywhere.

But, many people don't know is that they sit upright. I mean, I'm going 20 mph on this skiff and I'm not worried about this falling off. I've hit waves, I've hit storms, and I've never once looked back to check on my bag to make sure it was there. So, if there's some props to Helladry there for making an awesome bag that's just really well balanced, even stacked with camera gear. I know that's just going to stay there. I've never I've never lost it. So, once I'm ready to go, this gets moved. And now I'm ready to go.

So, that's just a quick overview why, one, I love rugged, but it's very functional on the board. It's not just a cool product. It works well for the board because it has to be lightweight to move it. And that's just That's just why I use my board. That's why I love them. They're lightweight rigs. They fit my tailgate. Everything's modular.
