Power Options for Your SUP Customs Build Explained

What I cover in this video

  • You get a free tune-in day when you buy, and what you pay for a test day is refunded from your purchase — a tune-in day in reverse.
  • The micro anchor runs off a $199 battery that lasts a day or two, so there are no wires running across the deck.
  • The Golden Mate is the only waterproof battery I've found that isn't a waterproof box housing. We went eight or nine miles and came back at 70%.
  • Don't do the 135 power box — too heavy, too much power. The 60 is fine for most people.
  • We're not off-the-shelf plastic from China. This is a boat build, so call us and we'll put your setup together.

Hey everyone, David, SUP Customs. Just finished a test day for a customer that's ready to buy. So remember, you get a free tunein day when you buy, but we tune you in weight distribution, but you also can come out to Central Florida, do a test day, and what you pay on the test day is refunded from your purchase. So it's basically your tune day in reverse. So, and then after that, if you're local in Florida, join us anytime at any boat ramp like Mr. Jordan just did today. And meetups are coming up about every four to six weeks.

So, we're we're pretty pumped. So, discussing power options on your paddle board. So to have a paddle board like a live board that's the only catamaran board in existence fiberglass build tunnel hole vortex suction huge air pocket all of that stuff that you you know about if this is your first time just go explore us a little bit on YouTube and Instagram and you'll know everything. There's a lot to power on this and it's in the kayak category, but it's also in the micro skiff category. So, we are more of the sealed hole, open deck, 14 ft of space to do whatever you want with.

Rather than having lines in a hole, inside of a hole, and you know, this and that, and it's only one place. Here, I can put my rod wherever I want. For example, I was out today. Where are the rods? So I'm standing on my cooler casting and I have my rod holder there straight up and down. So I'm casting my rod here and then when I want to swap out I'm I mean I'm standing on my cooler like this, you know, and then I just swap it out. In the meantime, I can store another one here, three back there. I can use a black pack.

I can do all kinds of stuff. So, what I like about this is there's not one set way to run something. There's a million ways. Battery in the front, battery in the back, but there's a there's a lot to power here. So, let's go through some things. The micro anchor. Just had two guy two guys that buy bought their setup and then left the micro anchor off and then started exploring videos as they wait for their their build. Get antsy, annoying their family. Gets it's on its way. So they they ordered them. So how do you power it now?

You can hook it up straight to a battery, but there's there's no need to have all the wires on this deck. I like the open I like the open deck. I like the freedom of it. But simply it's $199. It's the battery. It'll last a day or two. Lithium little charger. Put it back on the back of your micro anchor and you're good for the day. So, no wires, no running, but you can you can run a wire. What do we power a board with? This is the Golden Mate that we sell. It's the only waterproof battery I found that's not a waterproof box housing.

200 something dollars. Call it a day. 100 amp go forever. I We went eight to nine miles with it and come back and still had 70% charge. So, that's what we recommend for the most part. Today, I put the gentleman that we're doing the test day. I asked him if he wanted to be the guinea pig. Oh, here's the power box. Expensive. Only buy the power box if you're going to use it outside the board, camping, stuff like that. They're backordered. It's a mess with the tariffs. But you know, you have your outlets, 110s. So, I tell people they're awesome, but price-wise, the Golden Mate 100 will do more.

Don't do the 135 power box. Too heavy, too much power. The 60 is fine. Our recommendation for the average person that's just taking this out, need a battery for the board. Is this Golden Mate? Today, my customer was my experiment. I said, "Look, these are on sale. This is the same Golden Mate waterproof 20 amp. There's 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, and little 20 amp, 60 bucks. And I like, let's see what we can do. So, we throw it on here. Gosh, he went two, three miles, went for about three and a half hours and on a 20. So, this is not the way you go as your main battery, but this would be really for 60 bucks, have it in your cooler, so if there's an emergency, you can get home.

So, that's what that was for. Or put 250s. But this is Jordan's setup here. Actually, we're thinking about making this and having this as a purchase awesome option, but you can do it yourself. So, this is a waterproof case that runs his trolling motor that has his light bar in the front. So, it's all in one. He has his power knobs. He has his PCO switch. Lights. He flip on his lights and everything. So, see this light here? So, pretty cool. You can easily do something like this yourself. The batteries all inside. Easily do something yourself like this.

But we're thinking about selling something like this, too. This is cool for duck hunting, early mornings. Put your nav lights on the side, which he has them right here, here. So, pretty sweet. So, powering the board, I mean, you can just go with one battery like Jordan does for everything. Then your micro pole, obviously, I mentioned it's super super easy. It lays right on the deck. There's eight feet of marine mat. This stuff isn't sliding anyway, but anywhere. But you do have 12 tracks around here if you want to strap anything in a lawn chair, a beach chair on the front.

I mean, you can strap anything down like that. So, check check out these options. SUP Customs.com as you build. But the main thing I always say, we're not offtheshelf plastic from China. Like, we're a boat build. So, you buy the board from us, you buy everything from us. So, call us. Let's build your setup. The gentleman today is going to leave out the six horse. Decided between the two and a half and six today because he was able to see both. And he's going to leave out because it's wintertime fishing like I we just did with him.

He's like, "Well, if I'm just winter tide fishing, I'll grab my engine in March when it's time to hit the hit the beaches." So, start heading that way. So, you know, so he's going to leave that out. So, there's a lot to discuss. So give us a call. We'll walk you through it. We got a Texas run coming up. We got a South Carolina run coming up. So if you're anywhere along Florida I1095, reach out. And anyways, call us at SUP Customs through SUP Customs.com. Visit there, check out the options, walk you through anything.
