Trimming, Cooler Seats and Stability on a SUP Customs Hybrid

What I cover in this video

  • Waiting on CA Richardson to get him all set up so he can go even further back than he does now.
  • Getting into chop, I move back and get the bow up to cut through. To run three inches I move the cooler forward and get the bow down.
  • It's a closed deck, so water coming over the bow isn't getting in anywhere.
  • My cooler seat is also my casting platform. Two feet of elevation — visibility is everything for my style of fishing.
  • A six horse is a little top-heavy. If you're 250 you need to know that, and take it easy at first getting hit sideways by waves.

Everyone, David, SUP Customs, just here waiting for CA Richardson. We're going to get him all set up so he can go even further back now. But while we're waiting, we just put all our gear on. Wanted to talk about a couple other aspects of the board, trimming, coolers, seats, just for YouTube, for potential buyers. Power-Pole up. If you're wondering how stable these are, phone's in my pocket, this is there. There we go. So if you're ever worried about stability, this catamaran hull is hit the dock. This catamaran hull is flat.

Suction technology. Let me get my trolling motor in the water. And let's talk about a couple things here. People ask all the time or they'll comment about how far up and down the bow is. One thing I really like about this, these Live Boards in the catamaran, is I'm not stuck into like a kayak version or something like that. To where if I have water coming off over the bow, it's just getting in. It's a closed deck, so nothing's getting in. But what I can do in that situation, if I'm getting into some chop, and I love this about this setup, is I can go back.

I can get the bow up and I can cut through those waves with the trolling motor or a gas motor. If I'm going to run skinny, run those 3 in of water, now I have my electric ePropulsion on, so I can't get up on plane like like I can in my six. Then I would move this up, my cooler, and I would get the bow down. So we got some chop, we get the bow up. We don't And that's It's beautiful thing about this that is the skiff aspect of it. Outside of that, cooler-wise and seats, I love my cooler seat simply because you take away 60 or 80 quarts of storage for me, I'm not happy.

I have enough storage here for the entire day and a camping trip. Hold on. Okay. I'm going to lock down my Power-Pole so Austin can move around me. And that's what I love about this. Now, if you do want to strap stuff down, there's 12 tracks on this board. Anything can be strapped down. But, things just don't move. This marine decking, things just don't move around. And then the other reason outside of a seat that I love my cooler is I move this up and I don't need a second piece of equipment for casting platform. Visibility is everything for my style of fishing.

Getting 2 ft of elevation, it is everything. So, I move it up, move it back. I just don't want to unstrap it every time. But, if you want to strap anything down, just get your accessory cleats, strap it down, and and and you're golden. Now, other coolers, you can go with a 45. The 6 horsepower is a little top-heavy. So, if you're 250, you've got to know that. You've got to have the ability, the agility, or or whatever to just understand if you're getting hit sideways with waves, take it easy at first, get to learn this.

But, if you want a cooler seat, but a little shorter, 45. You'll see my other cooler, I have a backrest on. My dad stole that from me. But, you can put a swivel seat on a cooler. If you do need a backrest, keep that storage, keep less stuff on the board. But, any kayak seat will fit on this. We actually have a gentleman creating a base and a swivel seat, kind of like a kayak with a lower center of center of gravity right now. So, when you see this before you go to all for all the Facebook engineers out there, before you do a comment on one post, look over our YouTube page, right here.
