Trolling Motor Operation, Safety, and Rod Placement on SUP Customs Hybrids!

What I cover in this video

  • Austin and Jordan are pre-fishing for the owner meetup so we can tell everybody where the fish are, especially in wintertime.
  • This is the cord length you get when you buy the trolling motor from us — quick connects and a six foot cord from the back.
  • When you're spot locking and you come past the point you told it, it'll whip you around. Careful at full blast.
  • Sight fishing off the cooler, I keep that rod holder pointed up so I can switch rods without jumping down.
  • Before I motor I strap two rods down, pull the spike out and store it under the paddle on the back side.

Hey everyone, David SUP Customs out here on a tunein day for a customer and Austin and Jordan are pre-ishing for the meetup, owner meetup this weekend so we can let everyone know where the fish are, especially wintertime. And also getting ready, there's a couple flying in from Texas to get a test day, him and his wife. I'm I'm not going to load my Power-Pole. I'm just going to anchor down here. Little spot lock here. You can kind of see how that works. Little bit of my YouTube video of the day. This is a new trolling motor I picked up.

And, this is the cord length that y'all get when you buy the trolling motor from us. With the quick connects. And you got your six foot cord to run from the back. And you would put a a little hider right here. Stick to your board right here. You can even move it underneath the board if you want to completely get out of the way, but I haven't put my hider there. Or you have a little 12piece little quick connect that goes if you want to keep your battery up front. Always be careful with the trolling motors on these simply because like if you're spot locking and you're coming to a stop and you go past that point you you told it to, it's going to whip you around.

I always remember if you have it on full blast. I'll just show you here. So, I'm going to take it off. Locking me down. Turn on five. All right. So, let's say I'm fishing and now I'm done. But let's say this thing's turned this way and I turn it on. It's going to whip me around. So, little safety aspects. The trolling motor features, especially you're standing on a cooler. So, this video is about the cooler mainly, not so much trolling motor. People see us fish on these and we're not really a fishing channel, so we don't really have a GoPro on us all the time, but so I like people knowing when you invest in this or you're an owner, how you can really tune in on this.

It doesn't take you a year or two to pick up on stuff. Let's pretend I'm sight fishing on my cooler here. And a lot of times I'll use like this today is a fly rod and like a spoon or a lot of times two spinning rods. I'll do like a spoon for red fish top water like no light bait needed mullet for snook especially when the current's moving. But this is the rod holder that's usually pointed back. But whatever I'm fishing here I have it pointed up so I can grab this rod and switch out constantly. So, and it makes I don't have to jump off my cooler, to grab my, to grab my rod or anything like that.

Paddle, how do we do the how we do the paddle? Basically, just we like two rod holders. So, before I motor, strap them down or you can also put a push pole on this. So, this will be good opportunity to show you the spike here, too, because I'm not using it to anchor down right now. Then I would take the spike out, store it here. Let's just do it with my paddle under or over. I like to put it on the back side. I don't like to try to put both of them in the same slot. And then there we go. So now I because I'm in a bunch of mangroves right now, I don't want to be cutting sharp.

I'm going to take it out so I can really really turn. So anyways, I hope that helped y'all. I am going to get with the customer. He has to drive back to Texas and right now. So up here that locked down. I do have a bigger gas can today because I forgot the smaller one. Some people use little motorcycle cans. Got my frog to talk to. Took those off. My boots. They're sponsoring the next one of the sponsors of the next meetup. So, that's pretty cool. I got those there. I won't even move those around. I'll just keep them right back here.

They're not going nowhere. Get out of Austin's way here. Here we go. Hope see y'all at the next meet up. Get your SUP Customs skip going. You can join us anytime like Jordan, even as a customer if you live around the nature coast. Take it easy, guys. SUP Customs.com.
